The Motor Show is an annual event that showcases the latest in the automotive industry, drawing car enthusiasts, manufacturers, and media from around the world. To stand out in the competitive landscape, they needed a platform that would serve both as a hub for the event and an online magazine throughout the year.
As the design project lead, my responsibilities included research, concept development, user experience (UX) design, visual design, and overseeing the implementation of the final product. Given that this was a multiple stakeholders, cross-culture project, I also ensured that every voice was taken into consideration, opting for a collaborative approach that reflected the diverse perspectives involved in the expansion to Qatar.
The key challenge was how to effectively differentiate the website’s live event pages from the magazine-style content available throughout the rest of the year. We needed to create a distinct look for the Swiss motor show event, while still maintaining a cohesive design for the site when the event was not taking place.
To address this, we conducted on online user testing based on our various design explorations. The combination of quantitative and qualitative data allowed us to choose a dual design approach: a dark mode for the event, which elevated its exclusivity, and a light mode for the rest of the year, aligning with a sleek, magazine-like aesthetic.
To cater to the new international audience, an Arabic version of the website was created, ensuring a seamless and culturally resonant experience for the new visitors.
